Physical states, vacuum charges and exponents in two-dimensional quantum gravity and supergravity

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

We study the physical state conditions in two-dimensional quantum gravity and supergravity in the light-cone gauge using the BRST formalism. We show that due to the presence of a nontrivial SL (2,R)weight of the vacuum λv, the gravitational scaling dimension Δi associated with some operator having SL(2,R) weight di is given by Δi= -di λv and not simply by di. This analysis resolves an apparent discrepancy between the conformal gauge and light-cone results for Δi in N = 1 supergravity.
