Abstract
A new organic-inorganic hybrid compound, [Zn(bpy)3]1.5[H3W12O40Zn(bpy)2(H2O)]·0.5H2O (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has been synthesized hydrothermally from ZnCl2, Na6[H2W12O40], and 2,2′-bipyridine, and has been analyzed using X-ray crystallography, thermogravimetric analysis and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The compound contains an anionic complex [H3W12O40Zn(bpy)2(H2O)]3- in which α-metatungstate ion [H3W12O40]5- coordinated to a [Zn(bpy)2(H2O)]2+ unit through a bridging oxo group.
