Purely radiative contribution to muonium and hydrogen hyperfine splitting induced by light by light scattering insertion in external photons

Abstract

The radiative correction to hyperfine splitting of relative order α2(Zα) induced by light by light scattering insertion in external photons is obtained. The new contribution turns out to be equal to -0.48213... [α2(Zα)/π]EF, in Fermi hyperfine splitting energy units EF. Numerically it gives -0.26 kHz for muonium and -0.084 kHz for hydrogen.
