Abstract
The u- and d-quark spin content of the proton is computed in terms of the background-field method. It is found that the anomaly plays an essential role in obtaining a reasonable u- and d-quark spin content of the proton. This quantity is of O(1) in the large-Nc expansion. The numerical results are consistent with the experimental data.
