Abstract

Senior level HVAC classes typically cover basic air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, starting with a simple ideal vapor compression cycle and possibly later accounting for coil pressure drops and compressor characteristics. This program uses 'exact' property algorithms as a basis for which to define a thermodynamic state given any pair of known properties (P, T, v, h, s, x). This program, written in BASIC, can be used in its present interactive form to replace tables of properties or can be easily modified to use in system models. It is appropriate for use in HVAC technical elective courses as well as in introductory thermodynamics courses.
