Abstract
Restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP) were found when BamHI, PvuII and Hindlll digested horse genomic DNA was probed with an insert containing the gene sequences for human immunoglobulin gamma-4 constant region. Family studies demonstrated that BamHI RFLPs of 5.1 and 4.8 KB represented allelic genes. The occurrence of BamHI RFLPs were not correlated with the occurrence of RFLPs detected with PvuII and HindIII digested DNA based upon the distribution of the RFLPs among horses.
