Safety impacts of "road diets" in Iowa

Abstract

Road diets are frequently suggested solutions to problems of left-turn related crashed. This feature analyzes the impact of the conversion of 15 sites using a full bayes approach as well as a classical before-and-after study (with yoked comparison sites). The study found a reduction in the crash rate, crash density, injury crashes, the environment rate for drivers older than 65 and left-turn related crashes.
