Abstract

The best water/wastewater membrane presentations from the North America Membrane Society 2007 Annual Meeting, Orlando, Fl., May 12-16, 2007, are presented. The topics of these papers include a modeling approach for the ejection of organic solutes with high pressure membranes and a new method to observe fouling on membrane surfaces by freeze fracture to allow for scanning electron microscopy images without distortion. The selected best papers also include topics such as a study of NF membrane cleaning, the use of free radical graft polymerization to decrease NOM fouling, and a case study of using submerged membrane bioreactors for refinery wastewater treatment. The paper entitled a study of CA supported iron and Pd/Fe nanoparticles for dechlorination of trichloroethylene from water, was also included among the best paper presentations at the 2007 meeting.
