Abstract
The semi-analytical method, which has been successfully applied to the analysis of bending and free vibration of rectangular plates having different boundary conditions, is extended in the present study to the solution of the plate buckling problem. A displacement function satisfying the boundary conditions along two opposite edges in one direction is assumed. This displacement function is then substituted into the differential equation and, by suitable transformations, the resulting equation is reduced to an ordinary differential equation.
