Abstract

This study extends the application of the semianalytical or seminumerical method of solution to bending annular sectors with varying rigidities. Basic functions in the angular direction are assumed to take the form of eigenfunctions for vibrating beams. The classical method of separation of variables is employed, and a single trigonometric series representation is assumed for the deflection and loading functions. An ordinary differential equation is derived and solved numerically by a one-dimensional finite difference technique. The method is applied to sector plates with linearly and nonlinearly varying thickness, and for a different edge and loading conditions.
