Abstract
Injuries to the upper extremity often involve bone and soft-tissue elements, as do injuries to the lower extremity. Proper reconstruction of the soft-tissue deficits in concert with bone restoration is essential to final recovery. Better understanding of the blood supply and newer concepts of managing severely injured limbs has improved the ability to manage these challenging problems.
