Abstract

The well-defined ruthenium catalyst, Cl2(Cy3P)2RuCHPh (1) was found to effect the clean metathesis depolymerization of high molecular weight 1,4-polybutadiene at room temperature. Further, the role of the 1,2-repeat units in intramolecular chain limitation was delineated.
