Abstract

Analysis of axisymmetric, isotropic general shells subjected to thermal loading is accomplished by the introduction of an iterative numerical method. The formulation is based on thin elastic shell theory. One dimensional finite difference points are used to discretize the shell into strips along the meridian, and an iterative technique is then employed to determine the displacements.
