Abstract

Neutron scattering methods were applied to study the intercalant ordering and the lattice dynamics of the superconducting graphite intercalation compounds KHgC//4 and KHgC//8. Two coexisting phases with different intercalant ordering schemes were found for KHgC//4. In KHgC//8, only one phase was observed, with only two-dimensional ordering of the intercalant.
