Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. Its overall survival rate has improved only slightly; surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy remain the mainstays of current treatment. The effect of crocetin on benzo (a) pyrene B(a)P-induced lung carcinoma, antioxidant status were evaluated in mice intra peritoneal injection of crocetin (20 mg/kg body Wt)with B(a)P(50 mg/kg body wt) inhibited the tumor incidence in mice. These results indicate that crocetin posses as a potential cancer chemo preventive agent against tumor promotion.
