Abstract

A 60-year-old man reported bilateral lower extremity pain and swelling. A Tc-99m HDP bone scan showed symmetric, moderately intense uptake within the femoral condyles and tibial plateaux, and marked, symmetric suprapatellar soft tissue activity. Radiographs confirmed large bilateral suprapatellar joint effusions and changes compatible with osteoarthritis. Percutaneous aspiration revealed inflammatory cells without crystals.
