In memoriam of Dr. John Francis Ditunno Jr (1932\u20132024), we would like to express our deepest appreciation for his imperative contributions to rehabilitation medicine and spinal cord injury research. His research on spinal shock were crucial to this manuscript. He was an excellent physician, professor, and a great friend. He combined his two passions, medicine, and stone sculpting to create numerous wheelchair carvings inspired by individuals with SCI. Dr. Krassioukov\u2019s laboratory is supported by funds from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Foundation for Innovation, BC Knowledge Development Fund, US Dept. of Defense, and the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, International Spinal Research Trust, Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation.
