Abstract

The drug-loaded pH sensitive polymeric micelles from amphiphilic block copolymers poly ethylene glycol poly was reported where the anticancer drugs Adriamycin were bound through acid-cleavable hydrazone bonds. The micelles were prepared as an intelligent drug carrier for cancer treatment with enhanced drug efficiency but reduced toxicity by intracellular site-specific drug release control. It was observed that when the cells were incubated with the micelles, fluorescence intensity was changed time-dependently. The results were consistent with pH and time-dependent drug release profile, which suggested the intracellular drug release from the micelles responding to pH change in endosomal and/or lysosomal compartment in the cell.
