Abstract
A novel Volume-Compensated Particle Model (VCPM) is proposed to obtain the effective elastic and fracture properties of bi-phase particulate composite materials. The general formulation of the non-local VCPM method is discussed first. The interface problem is discussed in detail. An efficient algorithm for quasi-static problems is proposed. Following this, the representative volume elements for particulate reinforced composite are generated. Finally, simulations for several microstructures are performed. The effective elastic and fracture properties are obtained. Some conclusions and future work are drawn based on the proposed study.
