The effects of oxidative damage on the blood-retinal barriers in vitro were studied. The membrane permeability was evaluated to allow for the calculation of the cell monolayer permeability. The Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF) offered no detectable protective effect on either cell type in preventing permeability increases due to oxidative damage (H2O2) at current doses.
