Abstract

A behavioral rating scale for use with the geriatric and/or demented inpatient population is reported. It is called the Ward Function Inventory (WFI) and assesses 12 functions. Six independent reliability studies employing a total of 83 patients and 63 raters were done, yielding a mean reliability for the scale of .81 with a range of .73 to .93. The reliability studies were done on a variety of patient types. The practical utility of the WFI is stressed.
