Abstract

We have measured the magnetic susceptibility (χ) and specific heat (CP) of single crystals of Pr3RuO7. The susceptibility indicates a Neel transition at TN = 54 K, with an unusually mean-field specific heat anomaly. While χ indicates that all intrinsic moments order at TN, a Schottky-like anomaly in c P suggests that there remains a small crystal-field splitting between a magnetic and non-magnetic state of the rare earth ions.
