Abstract

We have measured the magnetic susceptibility (χ) and specific heat (C_P) of single crystals of Pr₃RuO₇. The susceptibility indicates a Neel transition at T_N = 54 K, with an unusually mean-field specific heat anomaly. While χ indicates that all intrinsic moments order at T_N, a Schottky-like anomaly in c _P suggests that there remains a small crystal-field splitting between a magnetic and non-magnetic state of the rare earth ions.
