Abstract

The greater saphenous vein is vulnerable in its superficial course overlying the distal tibia in the zone of impact of a kicker's foot. Minor repetitive trauma or a single traumatic event to this area may subject the vein to intimal trauma or other irregularities that may lead to vein thrombosis.
