Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the manufacturing scene in developing countries. The focal point of the paper would be the transfer of advanced manufacturing technology, its adaptation and utilization for the establishment/expansion of export-oriented resource and/or demand based manufacturing industries in the developing world. A qualitative analysis covering aspects of compatibility in monetary potentials, material resources, network of local infrastructure and social and political factors is presented with emphasis on the need for an accelerated development strategy, directed towards higher productivity and better quality of manufactured products.
