Abstract
The compound saltren[AliBuCl]3 (1) has been prepared by the reaction of the tripodal ligand saltrenH3 (tris(((2-hydroxybenzyl)amino)ethyl)amine) and di-isobutyl aluminum chloride. It has been characterized by physical (mp, EA), spectroscopic (1H NMR, IR) and structural (single crystal X-ray diffraction) studies. 1 crystallizes in the trigonal space group P-3. The structure is a trimetallic monomer. Each aluminum atom is four-coordinate with a distorted tetrahedral geometry. It is the first main group halide compound of the saltren ligand.
