Abstract

We have measured the energy gap of highly c-axis oriented Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (2223) polycrystals in the ab-plane direction with a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope. Our best tunneling conductance curve showed that the Δab of 2223 should be close to, but not larger than 39 meV. Both 2223 to normal metal, and 2223 to 2223 tunneling show similar energy gap values.
