Abstract

In this communication are reported the structural characterization of Me3AlNH2But(l), [Me2AlNHBut]2 (2) and [Me2AlNLi(THF)But]2(3). These compounds mark the first instance that a direct structural comparison can be made within a homologous series consisting of an alkylaluminum primary amine adduct, -amide, and lithium amide. One change of interest within 1-3 relates to the degree of bond shortening that occurs with the growing negative charge on nitrogen.
