Abstract

In this communication are reported the structural characterization of Me₃AlNH₂Bu^t(l), [Me₂AlNHBu^t]₂ (2) and [Me₂AlNLi(THF)Bu^t]₂(3). These compounds mark the first instance that a direct structural comparison can be made within a homologous series consisting of an alkylaluminum primary amine adduct, -amide, and lithium amide. One change of interest within 1-3 relates to the degree of bond shortening that occurs with the growing negative charge on nitrogen.
