Using Distributed Observers for Simplifying Centralized Control

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

This paper considers the problem of simplifying communications to a centralized controller by using locally distributed observers. These locally distributed observers are responsible for aggregating sequencing information, then communicating this aggregated information to a centralized controller for action. Procedures are presented for automatically synthesizing the local observers and the simplified central controller through the analysis of the original controller. Two basic controller structures are considered. Examples are given to illustrate the procedures.
