Abstract
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a complex diagnosis that was addressed in Chapter 13. It is defined by compression of the neurovascular structures in the cervicobrachial region. 1 Nonsurgical treatment should focus on the following 4 primary areas: patient education, postural correction, muscular imbalance correction, and aerobic fitness. 1 Implementation of a multimodal approach has yielded positive benefits in 59% of patients with TOS. 2 A similar approach has been found to improve patients’ self-report of disability that presented with both proximal and distal neurological symptoms.
