Abstract:
The corn earworm is a serious insect pest of outdoor hemp and it occasionally infests hemp grown
under greenhouse conditions. Damage is caused by the larvae that bore into ?ower buds and
blossoms. If reproductive tissue is not readily available, caterpillars will feed on foliar tissue. The
feeding on reproductive tissue can cause terminal growth of foliage, leaf petioles, and stalks. In
addition to direct feeding damage, there is concern that chewing injury may allow pathogens to
grow in hemp buds as well. The objective of this study is to screen the efficacy and crop safety of
chlorantraniliprole and zeta-cypermethrin against corn earworms in hemp grown under ?eld and
greenhouse conditions.
