Description
The Coal Availability Program is a multi-state investigation of coal resources.
The program objectives are: 1) to identify regulatory and technological restrictions to
mining in the coal basins of the United States, 2) to measure the degree to which these
restrictions and depleted reserves have affected the availability of coal for selected 7.5-
minute quadrangles, and 3) to apply these results to National Coal Assessment
regional assessments. This proposal contains work plans for applying the results of
past 7.5-minute and regional studies to additional regional coal availability
assessments.
