Description
Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) are two forest pests of concern because of the damage
and ultimate death to host trees caused by infestation. Early detection of ALB and EAB is important because infestations
can be eradicated or impacts can be minimized using various control strategies resulting in lower program management costs.
This project engages the public to look for and report presence or absence of ALB and EAB. Reports of potentially positive
finds by the public will be followed up on to confirm actual presence or absence of ALB and/or EAB or any other forest pest
reports that come to the cooperator's attention that are not otherwise compensated for by federal funds.
