CLIME: The Consortium for Language and International Majors' Experiences

Detalles del proyecto

Description

The University of Kentucky and Bluegrass Community and Technical College propose CLIME— the Consortium for Language and International Majors’ Experiences. The primary goals of this project are to deepen experiences for students majoring in International Studies, Anthropology, or a foreign languages, to attract more students to these majors, and to retain and graduate more of these majors—all of which will expand students’ capacity for international engagement at our respective institutions. The centerpiece of the program is the guarantee of a highimpact, credit-bearing, internationally-oriented experience as part of these majors, which will be facilitated through a group of faculty identified as CLIME fellows. Such experiences will include opportunities for study abroad as well as internship, service learning, research, or simulation activities—which may occur abroad or domestically with an international emphasis. The CLIME fellows will design curriculum and co-curricular activities to support students’ experiences, with an emphasis on preparing transfer students at BCTC to take advantage of experiential opportunities at UK, and funds will be allocated to address students’ unmet financial needs.
