Description
Research has shown that resiliency is essential for individuals to adapt through evolving and
adverse situations[1]. Research has also shown that resilience can be built and supported[2]. Our
proposed project will help people with paralysis recharge their resilience and provide the
necessary connections and supports that are needed to navigate in a COVID-19 environment. We
propose to conduct 4 virtual retreats—Recharging Resiliency Together. Each retreat (one per
quarter) will have about 7-10 people with paralysis. This will ensure that attention is paid to each
retreat participant. Each retreat will be accompanied by three follow up group calls. The purpose
of the calls is to build upon the skills learned during the retreat and to build a tightknit group of
peers (pods) who are supportive of one another.
