Cuyahoga County Overdose Fatality Review Counteractive Initiative

Abstract The project will involve helping create new methods of automatically reading the notes associated with drug-related investigation files. We will work within REDCap to create a Natural Language Processing (NLP) plug-in for the Opioid Fatality Review (OFR) Data System to extract important information from opioid overdose death scene narratives. The tool will be compatible with OFR teams using the REDCap based system. Research goals include writing papers regarding the tool itself and the results of using the tool on improving opioid surveillance and prevention.
