Demonstrating the Capacity of the Comprehensive Cancer Control Programs

Detalles del proyecto

Description

The University of Kentucky has been designated by the Kentucky Department for Public Health as the bona-fide agent for Comprehensive Cancer Control (CCC) in Kentucky. CCC in Kentucky, known as the Kentucky Cancer Consortium (KCC), will continue to implement policy, systems and environmental (PSE) change initiatives for this funding opportunity, as it builds upon existing partnerships within KCC, the Community Transformation Grants and the Coordinated Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion efforts. The policy agenda reflects two primary prevention interventions and one secondary prevention intervention that are being implemented over a five-year period. The priorities include: 1) Increasing the percentage of Kentuckians covered by smoke-free policies 2) 3) Increase the utilization of shared use agreements with Kentucky schools to provide communities with more opportunities to increase physical activity; and 4) Increase access to colorectal cancer screening through reducing policy, systems, environmental barriers for patients in Kentucky.
