Abstract
The purpose of this proposal is to advance and expand youth tobacco prevention efforts
across Kentucky by building on the strong foundation and demonstrated success of our
peer-to-peer initiative, #iCANendthetrend. To date, the program has engaged more than
30,000 youth, with outcomes showing increased knowledge, greater self-efficacy to
connect with quit resources, and a sense of empowerment among participants.
In this contract cycle, we propose to enhance and scale interactive prevention education,
strengthen leadership development opportunities, and deepen community engagement
strategies. Specific activities will include professional development for educators,
expanded partnerships with school and community stakeholders, and strategic
communication efforts (newsletters, social media campaigns, and data reports).
We will also grow our Youth Advisory Board and PEERS programs to equip youth across
Kentucky with the skills and confidence to lead prevention initiatives in their schools and
communities. Program updates will continue to be guided by best practices and real-time
student feedback, ensuring relevance and impact. Finally, we will prioritize dissemination
of findings to inform and strengthen prevention efforts statewide.
