ABSTRACT The University of Kentucky Research Foundation (UKRF) shall provide an HIV/AIDS Senior Epidemiologist, an HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist, two Surveillance Investigators, an Epidemiologist I, an Epidemiologist I Laboratory Surveillance, and a Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator and Co-Infection Specialist. These are key personnel positions funded by HIV Section agency funds and grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cooperative agreements with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The epidemiologist positions shall be required to collect, review analyze, and report on incidence and prevalence of HIV/AIDS infection and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) co-infection within the state as mandated by law, as a basis for planning, implementing and evaluating prevention and control programs. The positions shall be responsible for interpretation of laws, regulations, policies and procedures for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) program and Viral Hepatitis program to ensure compliance with state and federal disease reporting requirements. The Surveillance Investigators will conduct HIV case investigations according to CDC guidance and in compliance with state law.
