KCTRP: Use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for Rapid Inspection of Bridge Decks to Detect Area of Deterioration for Future Rehabilitation 09-370

OBJECTIVES: The objectives of the project are to: 1) Test the application of using GPR for rapid inspection of bridge decks to detect areas of deterioration for future rehabilitation. 2) Test different antennas to determine best frequency for bridge deck inspection. 3) Develop standard testing practices for bridge deck inspection using GPR. 4) Develop standard specifications outlining the anticipated tolerances and acceptance levels produced by GPR results. 5.) Compare GPR's ability to determine concrete cover over steel reinforcement for acceptance testing of new concrete overlays to that of the pachometer.
