KHIT 86,Adjacent PPC I-beam Bridge with High Performance Materials

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) proposes to use an adjacent PC box beam bridge pre-stressed and reinforced using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) tendons and rebars in place of the more traditional bridge girder, to replace a functionally obsolete bridge (NBI: 109B00007N) on KY 70 over Stoner Creek in Taylor County, KY. The objective of this study is to assist KYTC with the design, carbon fiber material specifications and orders, and perform monitoring at all stages of bridge girders’ fabrication and construction, and carryout the monitoring and reporting on the project.
