Lung Function Decline and Disease Risk from Young Adulthood to Middle Age

Dr. Mannino will coordinate the University of Kentucky’s involvement in the CARDIA substudy Lung Function Decline and Disease Risk from Young Adulthood to Middle Age. He will work with the consultant, Dr. Hankinson, to develop the spirometry certification metrics that will ensure high quality spirometry. He will train and approve the spirometry technicians, and monitor their performance through the data collection process. He review each spirometry performed in the study and grade its quality and adequacy for inclusion in the database. Finally, he will work closely with the Northwestern PI, Dr. Kalhan, once the data have been collected and approved to ensure that the appropriate data analyses are performed.
