Market Development Initiative for Structural Building Components using Underutilized Hardwood Species

ABSTRACT A team of architects, engineers, and forestry/ wood science experts propose a market development initiative for structural building components using underutilized hardwood species. This project will lay the groundwork for marketing a product (cross-laminated timber) from wood that many Kentucky farmers already have on their land. Building upon initial stakeholder and customer information gathering, and compression testing, we seek funding for the next development phases-- panel testing and robust economic analysis.
