Optimizing Escalation: Ceftolozane/tazobactam versus treatment with traditional anti-pseudomonal #-lactams for Pneumonia or Bloodstream Infections due to MDR P. aeruginosa (STEWARDS)

Detalles del proyecto

Description

Abstract Exhibit A – “Scope of Work” The STEWARDS study is a multicenter, observational cohort study of patients with multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection treated with ceftolozane- tazobactam or a traditional anti-pseudomonal β-lactam after identification of inactive empiric therapy. Enrolling sites will collect EMR data to evaluate the clinical outcomes of adult patients. Data will be entered into a secure online database (REDCap). Additionally, all Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterial isolates from index culture to 90 days post- treatment initiation will be collected and shipped to the Coordinating Center (University of Pittsburgh). Antibiotic susceptibility testing and identification of mechanisms of resistance will be performed in Pittsburgh. “Institution Materials” Institution will provide the following Biological Samples for use by University in accordance with the Study: Remnant bacterial isolates will be collected from patients who are included in the study. Antibiotic susceptibility of incoming isolates will be performed, and studies of molecular mechanisms of differences in susceptibility will occur on some isolates.
