Hinds Pearson Johnson ARC Pilot FY23-24
Layman's description
The major goal was to use state-of-the-art technology to discover the sex differences of glucose uptake and metabolism, such as glucose flux analysis by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS) [Aim 1] and our PamGene PamStation kinome signaling [Aim 2].
Key findings
For our preliminary analysis so far, we have observed that in our SIRM and extensive PamGene PamStation kinome analyses, sexual dimorphisms exist in both the BAT and soleus muscle for signaling mechanisms and glucose uptake. We have also observed sexual differences in the kinase signaling mechanisms of these tissues. We will continue to complete the bioinformatic analyses of all the tissues to determine which has the most significant differences among the sexes.
