Description
1. To understand and document the policy, systems, and environmental barriers and facilitators of food access, physical activity, and to food resource management practices within Kentucky communities by conducting focus groups in eight communities per year with low-income families, non-profit agencies and government organizations, and retail food providers.
2. To develop assessment tools for community members to use to identify and understand the policy, systems, and environmental barriers and facilitators of food access and physical activity
3. Provide training for Extension agents to facilitate the creation of coalitions (or to further the work of existing coalitions) within their communities. These coalitions will coordinate new partnerships and implement interventions designed to affect local formal and informal policy, systems and physical environment change.
4. Enhance public understanding of food systems by identifying local food providers/grocer needs, challenges, and best practices.
