SPR 2013 Prime KTC: Technologies for Bridge Tolling and E-Screening of Commercial Vehicles

The primary objective of this project is to collect and summarize information on technologies that could be utilized to both toll vehicles (on a new bridge) and screen commercial vehicles. Another objective of this study would be to have active involvement in the Louisville Bridges project in order ensure that commercial vehicle screening will be incorporated into this particular design and implementation. KTC will participate on planning committees (as possible) for the Division of Motor Carriers to help ensure that commercial vehicle screening will be included as part of the Louisville Bridge replacement project. KTC will also collect information on other electronic tolling systems. The information collected will include the type of technology that is utilized and if commercial vehicle screening is being done. If commercial vehicle screening is not being done, KTC will consider whether the technology being utilized would allow for commercial vehicle screening. KTC will also consider future technologies that could accomplish the goals of tolling and commercial vehicle screening.
