Description
Creating An Ag Professional Support System for Refugee Farmers is a collaborative
project to train ag professionals across Kentucky who work directly with or have programs
that can benefit refugee farmers. A series of farm tours, webinars, and culturally
appropriate educational resources will support food sovereignty and implementation of
sustainable practices in the refugee communities of Kentucky. Topics include but are not
limited to access to land, production education, business planning, and market
opportunities for refugee farmers. Combined programming and a central repository of
resources will help ag professionals support refugee farmers while addressing community
food insecurity and the barriers these populations commonly face in reaching for their
dreams of feeding their families fresh produce and generating farm income.
