Toro Clean Air Carshare

Abstract The Toro Clean Air Carshare (T-CAC) project seeks to expand access to clean transportation by launching a zero-emission vehicle carshare service centered at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and extending into nearby communities in Southern California. Led by CSUDH’s Toro Auxiliary Partners (TAP) in partnership with KINTO Share and the Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE), the project is designed to meet the needs of primarily commuter students. Most of them are from low-income backgrounds and underrepresented populations, as well as faculty, staff, and residents in adjacent neighborhoods. The multi-year effort includes phased outreach and implementation, beginning on campus and expanding to 11 surrounding areas identified as priority communities based on environmental and demographic indicators. Activities will include carshare service planning, community outreach, and ongoing assessment of transportation behaviors and preferences. Dr. Tianjun Lu will contribute expertise in data analysis, implementation planning, and campus-community engagement to support program success and long-term use of shared clean mobility options across the region.
