UK CAER Regional Field Offices (Western and Eastern Kentucky) and Energy Policy Analysis Services – Year 4

Detalles del proyecto

Description

Due to the increased public interest in addressing the future energy needs of Kentucky, the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) has seen a substantial increase in requests to help with coordination and technical oversight of regional energy development projects. Simultaneously, CAER has a need for field locations and regional partners for demonstration projects in both eastern and western Kentucky. Within this context, CAER has established an office in West Liberty at the Regional Enterprise Center to serve eastern Kentucky - and another office in Henderson serving western Kentucky. CAER’s West Liberty field office has provided technical assistance and project support to various entrepreneurs in eastern Kentucky. This support has been provided to individuals as well as through the Innovation and Commercialization Centers in the area. The West Liberty Office has also coordinated with DEDI in project identification of developing biomass alternative energy projects in eastern Kentucky, as well as projects involving reclaimed mine lands. In addition, CAER’s Henderson field office has coordinated with local officials and educators to provide an atmosphere conducive for the development of energy projects and has provided for appropriate educational opportunities to develop a consistent supply of workers trained for employment in the energy field. Several economic summits focused on energy have been conducted which resulted in the formation of local committees focused on the enhancement of the energy industry in western Kentucky.
